Qualifications framework for the European higher education area
As a part of the Bologna Process, an overarching European framework for the European higher education area (EHEA) was adopted at the Bergen meeting of ministers responsible for higher education in May 2005:
Qualifications frameworks are seen as important instruments in achieving comparability and transparency within the EHEA and facilitating the movement of learners within, as well as between, higher education systems.
The participating countries are encouraged to implement national qualifications frameworks linked to the overall framework by 2010. For example, there is a Danish qualifications framework for higher education.
