About the Qualifications Board

The Qualifications Board is an appeals committee for decisions regarding credit transfer and recognition of prior learning in Danish educational programmes.

Regulatory framework

The Qualifications Board has been established in accordance with the Assessment of Foreign Qualifications Act. The authority of the Qualifications Board was expanded in relation to decisions on credit transfer as of 1 April 2007 following Act no. 315 of 30 March 2007 about amending the Assessment of Foreign Qualifications Act (expansion of the authority of the Qualifications Board).

In accordance with Act no. 556 6 June 2007, of 1 April 2007 the Qualifications Board considers appeals against decisions made by Danish Educational Institutions about recognition of prior learning in relation to admission requirements at Higher Adult Educational programmes and in relation to admission requirements as well as programme content for Higher Education for Adults and Diploma Programmes within the system of higher education for adults.

By Ministerial Order the Minister of Education has laid down detailed rules on the composition of the board, its activities and its rules of procedure.

Composition

The Qualifications Board is made up of a chairman and a series of experts who together possess expertise within all the areas of education that come under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. In each case, the Board consists of the chairman and at least two experts.

Secretariat

The Danish Agency for Universities and Internationalisation acts as the secretariat of the Qualifications Board.
