NORDBUK - Nordic Children's and Youth Committee

Nordic Children's and Youth Committee awards grants for cooperation among organisations and groups and for youth projects

The aim of the Nordic Children's and Youth Committee grants is to strengthen Nordic identity by supporting children's and youth's participation in activities regarding cultural, political, and social affairs in the North, and to enhance the possibility for children and youth to strengthen the Nordic profile in international relations.

In September 2009 The Nordic Council of Ministers decided, that the Danish Agency for International Education will be in charge of the grant scheme from 2010 till the end of 2012.

There are two different types of grants:

Project Grant

Children and youth organisations or groups can apply for grants to hold seminars, training sessions, conferences, camps, publications, etc. Children and youth organisations from more than one country or autonomous area must participate. Participants in the project must be under the age of 25. Quarterly deadlines for application:

February 1, April 1, September 1, and November 1.

Organisation Grant

Children and youth organisations with members in at least three Nordic countries can apply for grants for planning and development of their Nordic cooperation. Grants can be applied for planning meetings, information materials, etc. Grants for larger events and projects must be applied for as project grants. Deadline for application: November 1st. every year.

Participating countries and regions

The following countries, autonomous areas, and regions can participate and apply:

For project grants:
The Aaland Islands, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, The North Calotte, Northwest-Russia, Norway, and Sweden.

For organisations grants:
Grants can be given to Nordic children and youth organisations having shared statutes, and members in at least three Nordic countries or autonomous regions: Denmark, Greenland, Finland, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the Aaland Islands.

At least one of the organisations in each country should also meet certain criteria, cf. the guide:

Application for grants

Applications for both types of grants must be elaborated online and submitted in either English or one of the Scandinavian languages.

Nordic Children's and Youth Committee is the Nordic Council of Ministers' advisory and coordinating body for questions concerning Nordic and international children's and youth policy.
