Frequently Asked Questions

Which school have the relevant course?

If you have a clear idea about what subject you are interested in you can contact The Association of Danish Folk High Schools who can direct you to the relevant folk high school(s). Please contact kontor@ffd.dk.

What about registration of the stay?

For stays of more than 3 months you must have a registration certificate.
The registration certificate must be applied for through one of the Regional State Administrations in Denmark. Read more and get information on how to apply on http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/frontpage.htm.

How can I apply?

You can not yourself apply directly. It is the Folk High School that applies on your behalf, and you should therefore contact the Folk High School that provides the course(s) you find interesting in order to ask them if they will admit you. If they will, they will also apply for you. When you have decided which course you want to attend, you must remember to inform any other schools you have contacted so that they can give room for another student.

When should I contact the Folk High School?

Any time, but the application deadlines for the folk high schools are 1 December for courses from 1 January  to 30 June, and 1 June for courses from 1 July to 31 December.

This means that you must contact the school and agree on admission well before these deadlines (preferably a couple of months).

What will it cost?

The grant will cover a part of the tuition fee, which includes board and lodging. The Folk High Schools normally charge an additional fee, which may vary according to the specific courses. You will have to pay for your travel expenditures as well as any additional living costs.
