International cooperation and mobility

The internationalisation of education and training is high on the political agenda in Denmark, and government, labour market bodies and educational institutions are active in the field of international cooperation.

In 2004, the government presented a Policy Paper to the Parliament about enhanced internationalisation of Danish education and training, lining up a strategy for the future work.

Denmark is also active in the implementation of the Bologna Process concerning higher education, the Copenhagen Process with regard to vocational education and training, and the Lisbon Recognition Convention.

The Danish Agency for International Education is responsible for a number of educational programmes funded by the European Union, by bilateral agreements or at national level.

The Agency is coordinating the two major educational programmes of the European Union and five Nordic programmes, but it is also responsible for a number of other programmes, schemes and initiatives that support contact and cooperation in education and training with other countries – also outside Europe.

The Agency participates in international cooperation on the mutual recognition of qualifications, representing Denmark in various networks.
